November 30, 2017: Tone Deaf

The itsy bitsy spider
I sound good to me.
I sound bad to you.

Crawled up the water spout
I carry a tune. It’s heavy,
so I share it with you.

Down came the rain
Why is it you skuttle sideways
When I break into song?

And washed the spider out.
I suggest we sing together,
but you retreat into the woodshed.

The itsy bitsy spider
Wait, I say, the song’s not over-
I can’t leave you hanging.

Climbs up the drain again.
We strive to resume
Where we left off.
