I attended the meeting. Some things going on with board members that I’m not at liberty to discuss.
Yes, I think the project will be affected. But I will keep at it. If I had a paycheck at stake, I would be more concerned.
Those who bring food to these meetings did not bring food to these meetings.
After the meeting I assisted Pete in moving the bookcase going to Jitters into his truck. We also loaded up the books that I’d set aside for Jitters Cafe. Then Pete, Robert, and I embarked on a road trip. We drove to Eagle River, which is half-way between Palmer and Anchorage. I took the stock out of the old bookcase and put it on the windowsill. The guys moved the old bookcase out and put the new bookcase in the space that was formerly occupied by the old bookcase. We all restocked the new bookcase which is maybe seven feet tall and three feet wide.
We ate in Anchorage. Then we went to Title Wave and there asked if they had any books to spare. A fellow directed us to the loading dock in the rear. I presumed that they’d only have adult books. I presumed wrong. About half of our haul was kids’ books. I was pleased because it’s easy to find places for kids’ books.
We three drove home. It was still snowing – the highway coming out of Anchorage (as was the highway coming into Anchorage) was a mess. Pete drove slowly, both ways. It helped that on the drive back to town that there was so much weight in the rear of the truck.
We began unloading books immediately upon reaching the Meeting House. I looked through several boxes, in order to assess the situation. The fiction and nonfiction – okay books. The children’s books – they are absolutely wonderful. And we were lucky to get them.
This was my Saturday. A radical change from past Saturdays.
