April 29, 2024: Whaaaaaaaaaaat?

It was another day in which everything went as planned. I have had a lot of them in the past year. I attribute this partially to luck and partially being organized in my thinking.

Better weather continues. The sun continues to shine ,although late this afternoon there were some gray rain clouds in the sky. It was 41 degrees when I went outside this morning and early this evening, 59 degrees. For the first time in this year, I did not wear long underwear. My legs always go ahhh when I finally remove them.

I started out my day, of course, by tending to the mares, who because of the weather, seem to be energized. I cleaned a portion of the kitchen and washed the windows after eating breakfast. Next, I got Tyra out and rode her down Murphy Road, to the turn.

It was an excellent ride. I didn’t ask her to do much on the ride down to the road, but I did do my Centered Riding exercises. I was somewhat loose on the return trip – I asked for a trot, and I got a good trot. I even rode the sitting trot with my feet out of the stirrups. It felt like we were working well together on the latter portion of the ride. I do wish I was taking lessons – I want to be an even better rider than I am now.

I came in, got ready to head out. I distributed books at the DMV and the Mat-Su Borough Building, then went to U-Haul and picked up four boxes of Milena’s books, which I then dropped off in the former banquet room of the Eagle Hotel. By this time, it was 3:30 p.m. A co-worker was there. She took off to pick up her granddaughter; when she returned, I went to Tae Kwon Do class.

Class was good, but rather relaxed though because I was the only white belt student. I am beginning to catch on, and of course wish I had more time to practice. I am planning on doing some creative visualization in the next few weeks.

I did not return to the historic Eagle hotel. Instead, I dropped off books at the Trunk Road Laundromat, then came home. I had promised Pete that I’d be home in time for dinner. We had planned on getting the other two horses out this evening. I first rode Hrimmi to the Murphy Road turnaround. The ride was nearly identical to the one I had on Tyra, with her trotting most of the way home.

I decided to take Raudi, who has a cough when she exerts herself, for a walk, and went around the loop. She can be one willful gal when she wants to be – she was wanting to get to the springs of grass by the roadside. She coughed just one – fingers crossed that she’s getting better.

Having all this daylight is quite wonderful. And we still have a month and a half more of light acquisition to go.
