October 1, 2023: The Tenth Month of the Year

Will I remember this day. or will it become a blur? The best I can do is write about it, and perhaps someday, I will read this, and it will be an ahh haa, yes, I remember that day well.

It was overcast when I finally got up. It had been raining, I know this when I look at the eves and see droplets of rain falling from the roof. I got up, I got out, and by then there was a break in the weather.

I knew that I had to get out for a ride before it started raining hard. I knew right. I sent out messages to people about next Saturday’s Seuss on Saturday Open House, and then washed the upstairs and downstairs windows, which were coated with several layers of dog smut. This took a while.

Nevertheless, I got outside and took the dogs and Hrimmi on an outing. Now’s a good time to be in the woods because there is not enough grass and foliage around with which to distract Hrimmi. (I just struggled with that sentence and could not get it right, so I moved on.) In other words, she moved on. Dogs and horse were chipper.

We arrived home and the light drizzle had become a light rain. The sky was solid gray, and it did not appear as though it was going to let up, so I decided to forego riding Raudi and Tyra.

I did have the option of going kayaking with Pete and Robert on Finger Lake, but because it was getting late, I decided instead to go to the hotel and get some work done. I’m finding that Sunday afternoons are an ideal time to work because it’s quiet there, and there are no visitors. I would not mind the visitors, but I don’t like to stop what I’m doing and engage in idle chit chat.

So on this rainy day, I first got the books that I was to distribute ready to distribute. I have a specific way of organizing the books – I put three bins of nonfiction, three bins of fiction, and three bins of children’s books, side by side. I put an additional box of children’s books in with the mix, this was for my additional stop at Swanson Elementary school. I next boxed up the book detritus, boxed up the boxes, and straightened out the children’s shelves. Lastly, I unpacked the boxes of rare books that the guys brought back yesterday, from storage at Kid’s Kupboard. I set some out for distribution and put some of the other books in boxes – these are the books that are valuable and need to be sold. As of yet, we haven’t found anyone to do this.

Pete stopped by after kayaking and put the boxes of discards and the empty boxes not to be discarded in his truck.

I did distribute. Vagabond Blues was closed grr grr grr.

Drove home and listened to folk music. Glad to be inside, where it’s warm and dry.
