June 22, 2025: Doing the Impossible

It is possible to do things that we think we cannot do. I have surprised myself in the past two years – now I am arranging meetings and making book related connections. If I put my mind to it, I could probably do what Pete’s doing now and figure out the BLBP finances.

I would have to want to do this. And it would be slow. But if I had to, and I hope that I never do, I could do this.

Made some headway with Shelf Life – have been scooting around talking about board governance. But here I must answer the question, why do we have a board? while putting a positive spin on it. I have had training as to what board member responsibilities are, so I see the possibilities. I just need to write about this training, so as to let people know why boards are important.

This is going to be tricky – and I am going to have to be exacting. But I can do this, oh yes, I can.

This morning, after writing, I got the BLBP volunteer lists together and made phone calls. There will be a few new faces on the scene this week. I also sent out emails mentioning that on Thursday there is going to be an organizational literacy meeting. We’ll see if anyone shows up.

I got Hrimmi out today – I decided that I should do more road work with her so as get her to better understand that her job, when under saddle, is not to eat excessively; rather, she needs to pay attention to what’s going on and act accordingly.

We went around the loop, down Siggi’s Trail, onto Murphy Road, down to the corner and then headed for home. I was very kind and gentle. I had my clicker with me, but it was one of several that didn’t work very well. I need to do more of this kind of thing with Hrimmi. I hope in the next few days to work with her in the Playground of Higher Learning.

I also rode Raudi who was very grass grabby. However, there were several real nice canters – I sensed that she would move out because it was cool and overcast outside. Hrimmi didn’t canter, but she did trot nicely.

Duly noted: Pete fixed the horse enclosure post. Benign neglect of this sort bothers me. It was a tough job and involved the use of his hands. Pete had no problem, which must mean that the surgery was a success.

So it’s likely that Fridays may be days in which we work at home.

I am always amazed by how much additional time that I have when I don’t go to town. I wonder if other people have the same feeling. I wish that I could get time off to continue working on my books.

Tomorrow will be here before you know it.
