I spent the afternoon in the former banquet room of the historic Eagle Hotel. I recruited a new volunteer, and we worked companionably together, cleaning and stamping the children’s books that were on the nonfiction table. I was pleased with how it went. We got work done. There were also a handful of regular volunteers present, so we all put a dent in the children’s book boxes.
I’m not the same person I was six years ago. I thought this as I walked over to the city hall building and talked at length with the new city manager about the BLBP. I found her to be an engaging individual. She likes what she heard about our project. I thought, those who are positive have a way of making things happen.
I didn’t say this, but we really do need more space. I’ve done a wonderful job of keeping books off the floor, but I don’t foresee this as being possible in the future.
I also went over to Wolf Architecture and talked with an architect there – not Gary Wolf – this is who I am going to talk to. Laura was a bit more circumspect about the possibility of our building on city land, next to the library – but definitely not opposed to the idea.
5 p.m. Everyone was gone. I spent the remaining time in the literacy center getting ready for tomorrow. We are going to Sutton fairly early – leaving here at 10:00 a.m., and we will be ready to do the preschool story time at 11:00 a.m. There is also a 1:00 p.m. story time, this is for the older children. We’ll take Hrimmi if it doesn’t rain. Rain could be a complication. I may write in the evening. Hard to say.
I had an okay ride on Raudi very late this evening. Young dog chased grouse. Old dog followed behind the horse.
