April 29, 2026: The Truth Be Known

Sometimes, after a long day, my thoughts turn to the next day and I wonder how I’m going to have the energy to get through the next day.

Right now, this feeling is exacerbated by the fact that my tooth issue is up in the air. It is bugging me, and those I know who are in the know are saying that because of the infection that I’ll need to have it pulled.

I’m going with what Pete is saying – since the post of the implant is in there solid, I ought to leave it as is. Makes sense. Since it is doing its job, why mess with it?

The gut problem is better – I think that the probiotics are heling.

I wake up, am disappointed at first that I have a full day ahead of me. But I get up and get going and having laid in bed for several hours (sleep eludes me). I have enough energy in me to see what needs to be done as do-able.

In part, I do this by focusing on the good things that are going to happen. For example, with medical and doctor appointments, I picture myself walking out the door, the task being done with.

The day progresses. I focus on what’s to be done. By the time late afternoon rolls around, I have again accomplished what the night before seemed to be impossible.

I have things organized in such a way at the hotel that what’s to be done is done in a very efficient fashion. Today, for example, we got boxes from two places, Value Village and Title Wave. Lots of really nice children’s books. I scrounged for these. And tomorrow, two more loads will be coming in, one from the Anchorage School District and the other from Back Birch Books.

The wheels in my head turn slowly, and this was one such instance. I had to bring it to mind to call these places. Maybe I didn’t bring this to mind because begging for books is my least favorite thing to do.

I get home and I am woefully lacking in energy. In fact, so much so that it’s hard to get motivated to get out and ride. No excuse, we now have better weather and plenty of daylight. It’s, for example, 10:13 p.m. and it’s now getting dark.

So tonight, after lolly gagging some, I got out and brushed Hrimmi, who by now has blown her coat. Yes, she has made the transition from being a winter pony to summer horse. She still has some shedding to do, but the bulk of her coat is now on the ground and in the wind.

I finished brushing her and then went for a ride just around the loop. She lolly gagged some, in preparation for what’s to come, green grass. I’ll bet she can smell the first springs of fresh grass.

As soon as I get in better shape, I will ask more of her. In the meantime, we are. . .lolly gagging.

Next: 118. 4/30/26: Good bye April
