I drove back to town and went right to the hotel. The mean cook attempted to get me to move my car, at least this is what I thought he wanted. He’s a large man and expresses himself in grunts. I ignored him and went across the street, down the sidewalk, to Fireside Books where I dropped off books that would not go over well if we put them on our shelves. This included the Kama Sutra. I also asked to have a flier put up.
I next went to Big Cabbage Radio, where I learned that they are assisting the Palmer Public Library in fundraising.
Then back to the former banquet room of the historic Eagle Hotel, where I studied math for a few minutes before taking my GED placement exams. Yes, I was very tired – it was an 1 ½ hour test, the first half hour being one part and the second half hour being the second part.
I didn’t know if I was going to finish it. Because I was tired, my attention span was quite short. I compared this to running a marathon. I knew there was an end in sight, so I paced myself.
The test wasn’t what I expected. I thought it would be heavy on the algebra and the square numbers. Instead, the test was comprised of simple little problems. For example, I had to figure out averages – this was very easy.
I didn’t fully relax when taking this test because I associated it with past tests. It didn’t take long for me to get my results – sort of, I am going to resume working on algebra problems. If I nail this, then I can take physics.
I now only have so many years left....
Volunteers – Lydia doing eBay, and Natalie stamping books. Jaiman came in in the late afternoon, and I had to tell him to go home. This was a first – I hope enough books come in so I don’t have to turn anyone else away. |
