Thinking about and promoting the work of local artists is a far better use of my time than is fretting about what other organizations are doing and how we are measuring up.
Tomorrow, Pete’s going to locate a scanner so that we can scan the image and thus have posters, post cards, and fliers on hand for the next few weeks.
We are also selling raffle tickets and still looking for sponsors.
This afternoon I made a list of places to call in Southeast Alaska – I am hoping that we can send them books. The Susitna Rotary might back us financially.
Tonight I emailed an old classmate, Ken Waldman, who fiddles and pushes his poetry. I hope that he can come and visit us when he’s here for his Palmer Arts Council gig.
I will get going on sending out fliers and other information about the orchestra benefit once we have the information on hand.
This should require less work than getting the Bleeding Heart Brewery event up and going.
Today it was again cold, cloudy in the morning, but sunny in the afternoon. I took Tyra and Raudi for walks. Both seemed eager to get out. I am going to try something else; this will be making it a habit to be out of the former banquet room of the historic Eagle Hotel at 4:00 p.m.
I had hoped to have Monday’s off, but this didn’t fly. Too much to do.
But making for shorter days will enable me to have riding/running time with my horses.
Tonight Pete and I met with some friends at a Mexican restaurant for a birthday party. We all sat in a little alcove – Sharon, who is partners with Harry, the birthday fellow, had an immense array of party favors, including party hats with Harry’s picture on it. I had wrapped up books, so everyone got a gift. Is this cool or what?
I talked for some time with Mabel who knew Sarah Welton, who just died. We may go and check out the hawk migration at Sheep Mountain in April.
And I may go with my sister to San Francisco in late April. Lots to do, come spring.
