May 2, 2026: Community Input

I heard today what I thought was the sound of robins. They don’t have an endearing song, but I will forgive them for this – it is very much a mating call, not at all disguised by a lovely sound. I’m sure that it does the trick. And think about it – birds are way smarter than people. They don’t go to online dating services or spend years looking for mates. They just sing (if you want to call it that, and I don’t) their little robin hearts out.

Okay. So I spent most of my day working in the literacy annex, a broom closet of sorts, which is very hot. It’s like a dry sauna. It’s so hot that I work for a while, duck back into the former banquet room of the historic Eagle hotel, then return to the broom closet and work some more.

It wasn’t so bad when it was really cold out. But now that the temperatures are in the 40s, I find the heat to be a bit excessive.

I work alone there. Some of the hotel denizens came in today and asked for the bathroom code. I told them to go into the restaurant and get it. This is because the heat makes me cranky. I know, bad karma if someone pees in their undies or shits in their britches.

I did get a lot of macro organizing done today – the books for Summer in the Park(s) are easily located. The find of the day was a large copy of the Bibliographic Burro. I mentioned to Pete that we could bring Hrimmi and I could read this story, and he didn’t say no to bringing her to Bugge and Amoosement Parks.

I had this revelation today, which was that if this Summer in the Park(s) implodes that I will not be responsible. I’ll have done my job by getting all the materials in order and lending a hand in the day-to-day aspects of this venture.

This is meant to be a community endeavor, and I hope it will be. It may take a while for it to take off, but the spaceship will go into outer space and return to earth in one piece.

Enough speculating. This evening, after dinner, I got Tyra out. I cleaned her up because three quarters of her splats was on her ass end. Her condition is intermittent. She is getting her supplements and her special hay so she should come around soon, meaning start producing healthy shits.

I also brushed her. Though her red coat is still thick, she’s done blowing her coat for now. Then we went for a walk with Pete, Shadow, and Ryder. Tyra had a great time, running off and coming back knowing that she’d get a treat. The dogs didn’t have a great time – they were concerned about the fact that Tyra is a very big animal, and they might get stomped on. Always, this exists as a distinct possibility.
