September 21, 2026: Turning a Corner

Yep. This is what I feel the BLBP has finally done. Maybe my thoughts on this matter are premature. Intuition is not fail safe. But I do trust my intuition, and with good reason. It has never before let me down. And it is not going to let me down.

Is it oxymoronic to say reason-based intuition? A person could write a book on this subject, say, write about how quantification lends itself to intuitive thinking. My goodness, I can’t believe that I’m saying this.

When it comes to numbers, I am mentally clumsy. This is why I have embraced qualitative thinking. But being around people, and being in charge of a project in which quantifying data is thought to be important, has made me more adept in quantifying. However, always I will trust my intuitive/quantifiable self.

It turned out to be a damn good day. It didn’t start out too awful good. I suddenly realized that I was near late, leaving for my dentist appointment. And I got very anxious because I could not find my wallet. I would not have been so anxious but traveling without it was a risky endeavor. In order to get to Meridian Park, where the dentist was, I had to go through several roundabouts, in the rain. And I had to deal with squirrelly traffic. Thus, the odds favored my being stopped by a police officer.

I presumed that it was in the glove compartment of the car, but I didn’t want to run back and forth between the car and the house. So I looked in all available places inside, then when I could not find it, I headed out thinking that I’d have to chance it if it wasn’t in the glove compartment. Turns out, it was.

Once at the dentist, I grabbed a book while waiting for my appointment. It was entitled Baby Squirrel Loses a Tooth. For some reason, this was as funny to me as illustrator Richard Scarry’s Babykins, which also made me laugh raucously.

So there I sat laughing when the dentist came into the exam room. I told him this was a funny book – he was very busy, so he cut to the chase and dealt with my dental issue. He said that I am healing (this was where the tooth was pulled), and that on October 13 he will do a bone density scan and determine if I am able to have an implant. I was then done. I am still elated because it is going to be some time before anything is done. I’ll just keep wearing the retainer in the meantime.

This sense of elation carried through the rest of the day, first preparing for the BLBP/ALP open house, then hosting it. Our friends showed up, and there were many good conversations.

Yes, I thought, we have rounded a corner. Okay, rounding a corner means that you have sliced one of the four squares off the corner, which I guess is what we have done.

I now feel as though the hard work is paying off, and soon, we’ll both have a paid staff and a larger place in which to conduct business.
